Event 2: Land
‘I came for the trees’ is heard so frequently, it is a mantra in Altadena. The neighborhood’s natural and built landscape has changed significantly since the Eaton Fire, from the scraping of topsoil to the visible loss of tree canopy. This roundtable discussion is centered on rethinking land value and stewardship — including traditional ecological knowledge, fire-wise landscapes, and soil health.
ALT:adena is a three-part public event series shining a light on those rethinking their pathway home after the Eaton Fire — and the creativity and expertise making it possible.
Stepping up in scale each week, we move from the home, to the land, to the town. Each gathering will convene fire survivors, builders, organizers, and technical experts united by a shared curiosity, whether by choice or lived necessity.
