The Gower Mausoleum rises 100 feet above the historic Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Multiple concrete and stone towers provide gathering spaces surrounded by raised gardens that reach the top of the building. 30,000 new crypts provide a final resting place within the monumental structure. The interstitial space between crypts becomes an opportunity for connection with the community.
Hollywood Forever Cemetery has a long history as a community gathering space that hosts cultural events including movies, festivals and concerts. With the mausoleum, it further cements it's commitment to the Los Angeles family, providing a place for visitors to be inspired as they view the community from above, all the way to the Hollywood hills.
What one might expect to be a very heavy structure made of concrete, actually feels light and inspiring. The way light travels through openings and bounces off different tones of stone, provide a range of experiences that vary throughout the day and from season to season.
The mausoleum is truly a space that must be experienced in person. Please join the L.A. Forum for a tour led by Arquitectura y Diseño's principal architect, Roberto Sheinberg.
