The Los Angeles Forum for Architecture and Urban Design is initiating an open call for 2020 Board of Directors nominations. In a move to promote a wide range of input from all sectors of the design profession(s), we are asking you — the greater design community — to participate in the nominating process.
L.A. is a catalytic place for architecture and design, offering lessons that extend globally, and we want to meet these challenges with a team of diverse practitioners. The LA Forum Board of Directors is a dedicated, volunteer group of working professionals in the field, who are tasked with instigating dialogue on design and the built environment of Los Angeles through public programming, exhibitions, and publications. Our curatorial stance frames and challenges what architecture means in an evolving city. The Los Angeles Forum for Architecture and Urban Design is a 501(c)3 public benefit corporation in California.
Directors’ duties include:
- Ongoing contributions and potential leadership on one of four operational committees
- Ongoing contributions to one of the teams in organizing LA Forum Programming
- Minimum attendance at 8 of 10 monthly board meetings and two annual day retreats
- Contribute to annual fundraising efforts
- Annual Director’s dues and fundraising requirements
- Commitment to serve four years as a Director. This year’s new Directors will join the board early in September 2019, but their four year term will begin in January 2020
Candidates must be LA Forum members. Learn more about membership HERE. Candidates should submit the following items in an email to info@laforum.org by August 31st, 2019:
- CV / resume
- letter of intent
- biography
- proposal for a possible event/programming
Submit a max 1-page proposal for a possible LA Forum event. Event may build upon past LA Forum event series (Out There Doing ItI, On the Map) or propose a completely new direction. Be specific about event details such as topic, location, partners, participants, and audience
- letter of recommendation and a total of three references
- telephone and email contact information for an interview with current LA Forum Board Directors (if needed)
Self nominations are acceptable.
